Photoelectric Sensors

Photoelectric Sensors consist of an emitter and receiver. The emitter emits modulated visible / infrared light that gets reflected by the target object. The reflected light is detected by the receiver which triggers the output of the sensor on / off.

Photoelectric sensors are either diffuse, retro-reflective or though beam types.

Most commonly used diffuse type have sensing range depending upon the reflective property of the target object. Retro-reflective type detects only light reflected from a special reflector. Through beam types have emitter and receiver in separate housings. The emitted light is directly detected by the receiver.
